Volunteer Update By Allyssa Merlo, AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator

Happy spring! The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and we are counting down the days until our summer camp sessions begin! In the meantime, we have some important dates coming up related to the Easter Seals Wisconsin Camps volunteer program.

First of all, we join together during the week of April 7-13 to celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week. This week is a dedicated time for volunteers across the country to be recognized for the good works and service they provide to others. At Easter Seals Wisconsin Camps, our volunteers are vital to the success of our camp programs. They serve as counselors during our camp sessions, allowing us to serve more campers and families. They also engage in service projects around camp which keep camp safe, clean, and beautiful. In celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the volunteers who continue to show up and do good at camp. We appreciate the time and effort you dedicate to our camping programs.

The next important date to add to your calendar is May 11, which is Camp Clean-up Day. This day signifies the end of our school-year camp programs and the beginning of our summer camp preparations. It is a day filled with service projects including raking, planting, cleaning, trimming, and other tasks that help to prepare our grounds for our summer camp programs. We rely on volunteer groups to assist our staff in these responsibilities. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Camp Clean-up Day or being involved in our camp programs in a volunteer capacity, please email me with inquiries or questions at

Enjoy the warm weather and we hope to see you here at camp!
